We, at Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio, appreciate your interest in our efforts in providing a loving, safe home for our Retired Racing Greyhounds.

In an effort to provide us with information needed, please fill out this application with as much information as possible. Upon receipt, one of our volunteers will contact you and we will proceed with getting you in touch with one of our wonderful Greyhounds. Our goal is to find a "Forever Home" for as many Retired Racers as we can!

We suggest after filling this our, you go to your library and get the book Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummies. This will give you a lot of information you will need to help you get to know the breed, what to expect when you bring your Greyhound home for the first time and much more information!

How did you learn about Retired Racing Greyhounds adoption

During the first year of adoption, are you willing to have one of the volunteers from Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio visit your home and/or call you from time to time to see how things are going with you and your Greyhound?

Ownership of your Greyhound is based on this application. If at any time, Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio feels that the home situation has changed, and/or the well being of the Greyhound is in jeopardy, we reserve the right to take the dog from the adopter/owner. Agree?

Upon adopting, you agree to take full responsibility for any and all care of the Greyhound adopted . This includes any and all medical or liability costs. Agree?

If your Greyhound gets lost, you will IMMEDIATELY notify Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio. You will keep a collar on your Greyhound at all times with identification tags to aid in the return of your Greyhound if it were to get loose. Agree?

Retired Racing Greyhound means you will never attempt to race your Greyhound. You agree to keep your Greyhound solely as a companion pet. Agree?

If you cannot keep your Greyhound for ANY reason, it will be returned to Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio. At this point, you will have to fill out a form to relinquish and transfer ownership back to ESGAO.

If you know someone who would take the dog, you cannot do so without written consent from Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio. Agree?

Greyhounds can NEVER be put out on a rope or chain. Greyhounds can NEVER be let loose outside, unless in a fenced in area. Greyhounds can NEVER be taken outside without being on a leash. Greyhounds can NEVER be contained by the use of an electric fence. Agree?

If a deposit is put on a specific dog, and if we decide not to adopt the dog, the deposit is not refundable. The deposit may be transferable to another dog, at the discretion of ESGAO. Agree?

Do you agree to put your dog on heart worn preventative monthly?

I/We, hereby certify that all information given in this application is true. I/We, authorize Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio to verify any and all information given to allow the process of adopting a Retired Racing Greyhound. I/We understand that any deposit and/or adoption fee paid, is NOT REFUNDABLE after the 2 week adjustment period, after placement of the Greyhound.
