CG McGee

CG McGee
July 30, 2016

McGee came to ESGAO on the haul this summer.  He has been diagnosed with Progressive Retinal Atrophy, which is not painful, but he is losing his sight, and soon he will be blind.  He needs an understanding owner and another animal to show him around, and he will live a full and happy life.  McGee is 2 1/2 years old.  McGee is a happy cuddly dog, who is able to run in the yard and go for walks, but he just can’t see very well, and this is why he needs a seeing eye dog.

A verry happy almost 3 yr old who has some eyesight complications.  McGee has genetic disease P.R.A. which Will result in him becoming blind.  When or how quickly no way of knowing.  Observation & knowing McGees habits, actions & consistent routine are best way to track any changes. McGee is on a high dose of eye supplement with vitamins/Minerals designed to help eyesight, as suggested by veterinarian eye specialist.  Nothing will improve sight lost but supplement may help keep sight he has longer .McGee does need one or more other dogs to assist him as guide dog. Both my Grey's serve different jobs.  Arby is his stick to companion.  Uncertain, nervous,,he knows Arby Will keep him safe.  Annie is his playmate.  She wears bells to run around yard.  McGee chases her.  He has no fright in running.  Does understand careful, & slow.  Loves his stuffies. Does like a lot of attention. Will give kisses.  Does not get on any furniture.  Prefers to sleep in hallway outside bedroom.  Loves his round bed.  McGee is flexible & wants to please you.  Enjoys car rides a lot unlike most dogs with eye problems.
